The ECO Schulte FTS III is a free-swing door closer — a specialist type of overhead closer designed for buildings where residents and users may struggle with the effort of pushing through a fire door. Under normal conditions, the door swings freely, held open electromagnetically. When a smoke detector or fire alarm activates, the closer releases and the door shuts automatically, restoring its function as a fire and smoke barrier.
Certified to EN 1155 for electrically powered hold-open devices, the FTS III is specified into care homes, schools, hospitals and residential entrances where accessibility, safety and fire protection all need to work together.

The door swings freely from just 1° opening angle. Users feel no closing resistance at all — critical for children, elderly residents and mobility-impaired users.
Integrated with smoke detectors and fire alarms. When triggered, the closer releases and the door shuts automatically to fulfil its fire barrier role.
Covers hinge-side and opposite-hinge-side, DIN left and DIN right — all with one closing body. Simplifies specification and stocking.

Cable connections can be run internally or surface-installed, giving specifiers flexibility for both new-build and refurbishment.
