The South Infirmary Victoria Hospital has long been a provider of clinical services in Cork City. In 2022 the hospital embarked on a project to develop 2 state of the art Ophthalmology Theatres to further enhance their capability.
Reddy Architecture Designed the theatres and Eamon Costello Builders were the main contractor. MF services were contracted to supply, install and commission specialized hygienic door systems for the project, that included laser proof glazed privacy vision panels and full Automation and integration with the Theatres safety systems.
MF Services provided a wide range of services and solutions to the Ophthalmology Theatres and Ancillary critical areas, which include:
- Sliding Hermetic Doors with Vista Mastic Laser-Proof Panels
- GRP Swing Doors (manual and automated)
- Theatre Control Panel Integration
GRP Swing Doors
MF Services installed a number of manual and automated GRP swing doors to the theatres and ancillary rooms. As a completely sealed unit, with no joins or lips, these gel coated doors contain anti-bacterial properties that can easily be cleaned down and offer a simple and hygienic solution to accessing critical areas.
Hermetic Sliding Doors
To provide a complete seal to critical areas MF Services installed a sliding door system that drops down and in towards the wall forming a fully sealed hermetic barrier when closed. Where vision panels were necessary, flush glazed Vista Matic laser-proof privacy panels were provided.
Theatre Control Panel Integration
MF Services installed an integrated interlock system connecting all critical area doors directly to the Theatre Control Panel. The fully monitored safety system ensures full lock down of all required doors is completed before a procedure can commence. The doors and interlocks are only overridden by fire alarm activation or by emergency break glass units.
