The Door Systems Toolbox
Specify doors in minutes, not afternoons: free technical tools that size door closers against overpressure and build tender-ready doorset specifications.

Stairwell doors and doors near strong ventilation push back — air pressure loads the leaf, and a door that must open with no more than 100 N of force also has to close reliably against that same pressure. Getting the closer right is a genuine calculation, not a catalogue pick.

The Overpressure Calculator does the calculation. Enter the door — width, height, weight, handle position, pressure and its direction — and it returns the door closers suitable to open under the 100 N limit, marked against the EN 1154 setting recommendation, with the force at the handle and whether the door will close, number by number. An auditable, defensible answer for plant rooms, lobbies and pressurised cores.

Enter the structural opening and the Specification Tool guides the rest: approved leaf counts appear against your dimensions, fire ratings from EW30 to EW120 tested from both directions of exposure, handing, acoustic options to 47dB Rw, locking and keying — with a live elevation drawing as you build.
The output is a branded doorset specification ready for your tender package. Guided mode walks the schedule with you; quick spec gets you there faster when you already know what you want. Riser doors, steel doorsets and cable plans for ETS 73 swing door operators are live now, with automation sections following.
Try the Door Systems Toolbox in person at Stand B25, Architecture Expo 2026 — RDS Dublin, 7–8 October. Bring your own project numbers and talk them through with the specification team.
Both tools run in the browser and are free to use. When you want the output sent as a PDF, tell us where to send it and it lands in your inbox.
The calculator works to the 100 N Part M opening-force limit and marks every closer against the EN 1154 setting recommendation — numbers you can put in front of a fire officer or an M&E engineer.
These run on the same selection logic MF Services uses to specify doors and hardware every day — and the team behind them is a phone call away.
Yes — both tools are free to use in the browser. Creating an account lets you save specifications and come back to them.
Whether a door under air pressure can still be opened with no more than 100 N of force, and which door closers achieve that while still closing the door reliably — marked against the EN 1154 setting recommendation, with the full breakdown of numbers for each closer.
A branded doorset specification built from your opening sizes, fire rating, handing, acoustic requirement and locking — ready to drop into a tender package.
The calculator covers ECO door closer ranges. The Specification Tool covers riser doors, steel doorsets and cable plans for ETS 73 swing door operators today, with swing and sliding automation following.
That’s the point — the outputs are written to drop into schedules and tender documents. And if you want us to sanity-check a specification against a live project, send it over and we will.
Yes — from early design through to installation and aftercare. Send us drawings or a door schedule and we’ll come back with recommendations, datasheets and indicative pricing.
Overpressure lives in stairwells, lobbies and plant rooms with strong ventilation. The calculator turns a recurring argument on site into a five-minute check at design stage.
The Specification Tool turns opening sizes and requirements into a consistent, branded doorset spec — the same rigour on door twenty as on door one.
The tools are free to share — send the link to the whole team, and every specification that comes out of them carries the same logic ours do. When a project needs more, we’re a phone call away.
The tools give fast, defensible answers — and when a project needs more than a tool, we’re behind them. Send us drawings, a sample specification or an outline of the project, and we’ll come back with recommendations, datasheets and indicative pricing.
You’ll also find the Door Systems Toolbox with us at Architecture Expo 2026, Stand B25, RDS Dublin, 7–8 October — come and try it, and talk through your current projects with the team.
